Holiday Mantel Decorating

Ok, so apparently I made a promise last year that I was going to post my Holiday Mantel Decorating and fireplace???!!  Hmmmm…looks like that never happened!  LOL!  I think we can all relate that this time of year can get a little bizzzzzzzeeeeeeeee and it is easy to get buried in holiday crap CHEER!!  And…to make it up to you, I’m going to share it now!  It’s never too late, right?

Ok, so for those of you that have been following our blog for a while, you’re aware that when it comes to holiday decorating, we tend to play a little outside the lines with our color palette.

Hopefully you remember our mantel from the previous year, if not…here it is!

As much as we LOVE this set up we wanted to add in some more color.  We started by making the main piece for above the fireplace.

Using the same deer head, we made a felt ball wreath and mounted it in a plywood backing covered buffalo check gift wrap.

I started by attaching felt balls to a foam wreath.

Work your way around making sure to cover the entire from of the foam wreath.

Next, I covered a piece of cut plywood with buffalo check gift wrap and attached it using mod podge.

Once the mod podge was dry…I framed it out with 1″x2″ boards.

I attached sawtooth hangers to the back to hang and then hung the wreath next.
