Ok, so as you all may know or not know that I am an interior designer. To design or decorate a client’s home I truly am in my element…the creativity starts immediately and I can barely keep my sketching hand up to pace with the images firing off in my head. It can be quite exhilarating and overwhelming all at the same time. To design my own home? Ha! Anyone who is or knows a designer, can appreciate the exact challenge I am speaking about. I see so much, I want so much…hence the reason I have painted the interior of my home a bizillion times. I am too close to it and fear committing because I know another fabulous trend, color, or piece of furniture will waltz into my line of sight at any given moment. My house is a work in progress, a laundry list of “to-do’s”. The question is which project is next? Great question!…that is why I am going to share my process with the world…or the few people who give a crap about what I am up to (: So here is my home so far…I will post some more pics once I make my bed and do my dishes.
Art made from some random frames and decorative paper
Custom drapery panels made from store bought panels and some inexpensive fabric
I used leftover fabric to sew some accent pillows
My first attempt at drywall and tiling…success!! I love the way my fireplace surround turned out and I did it myself!
Close up of the mosaic tile
Modular furniture from Ikea that was a perfect fit. Made to look as if it was a custom built-in!
My dining nook – I had a piece of carpet made into a bound rug. New chandelier coming soon…I hope
This is the color palette for my main living space and touches of it are seen throughout my home…so soothing!
I love these finial-like accessories…it adds the perfect amount of glam
Polished nickel accents are found throughout my home
I Had some fabric samples that I stretched around a canvas and finished off with some coordinating ribbon
I decided on a painted wall with a harlequin pattern to create interest. It was pretty time consuming but well worth the efforts
I just love these little sparkly lamps…above are two prints I purchased, repurposed the frames they came in, and had them custom matted in an oatmeal linen and then framed
I love adding a touch of animal print…it adds great visual interest and a touch of whimsy
I Needed some art for above the master bed so I used a fabric sample stretched over a canvas for the center. The two end pieces are painted canvases with silver leaf letters adhered to them in our initials
This is by FAR my favorite piece EVER!!! I got this at a clothing store that was going out of business for $300!!! I think it is really old, definitely worth way more than I paid. I use it to house our bedroom television and our laundry hampers
My sad master bath…oh how I dream to do big things to this space SOON!…on a budget. I am picturing double free-standing vanities with vessel sinks, tile detail, wall sconces, chocolate paint, etc…
My laundry room…this project was completed when I was 8 months preggers…tons of storage and complete with a cute little homemade curtain to hide a waste basket…sewn by yours truly in fabulous Amy Butler fabrics.
All neat and tidy…even equipped with a wall mounted drying rack!
A place for everything and everything in its place…unlike most I love to do laundry…I know…I ‘m weird!
and when the laundry is complete, here is my lounger…enough said!
Our party-o…
Oh, how I love my Smith & Hawken for Target patio furniture…
So here is where it starts…this shower curtain soon to be window treatment is the first look into my master bath transformation…I saw this fabric and knew it was love at first sight. I am a sucker for aqua blue and when you pair it with my favorite color {PINK} I am sold. I love the large scale floral…It’s modern, feminine, and chic! My goal is to document my design process of my upcoming projects on a BUDGET. I can’t promise when I will start or how long it will take but writing about it holds me accountable!! Stay tuned…I hope to have some fun details to report soon…smooches!
